God of War Laufey Preorders Start Sept 29: Every Edition Revealed

Sony has announced that God of War Laufey preorders go live on September 29, ahead of its February 16, 2027 release. Here's what each edition includes.

Are you ready to return to the Norse realms? Sony has just announced that God of War Laufey preorders will go live on September 29, ahead of the game's release on February 16, 2027. That's right—you can secure your copy later this month, but you might want to know what each edition offers before you commit. Here's the breakdown.

The Standard Edition will be available in both physical and digital formats. If you preorder, you'll get some nice bonuses: the "Last Wish" armor set for Faye, a set of golden leaves for Phranque the Cube to wear (purely cosmetic), and an in-game resource pack to help you snag some early upgrades. Pricing hasn't been revealed yet, but Sony typically charges $70 for a regular version of its games and $80 for a deluxe edition. We'll update this post as soon as official prices are live.

For the digital-only crowd, there's the Digital Deluxe Edition. It includes all the preorder bonuses from the Standard Edition, plus a bunch of extra goodies. You'll get the "Dark Alchemy" weapon skins—an armor set, blade, bow scales, and catalyst—along with a matching suit of armor for Faye. But that's not all: the Deluxe Edition also comes with a digital mini-artbook and the official God of War Laufey digital soundtrack. It's a solid package for fans who want to dive deep into the game's world.

In other exciting news, developer Sony Santa Monica has revealed a new weapon that Faye can wield: the Serpent Bow. This enchanted bow lets you unleash a volley of arrows quickly, or you can hold down the aim trigger to fire a precision bolt that strikes from a longer range. If you hit an enemy with one of these arrows, their movement or ability to strike will be impaired, and Faye can follow up with melee attacks. You can even choose between rapid-fire, explosive detonations, and multi-target arrows, making the Serpent Bow a versatile tool in battle.

God of War fans have even more to look forward to beyond Laufey. A new Kratos-led game is coming after it that picks up where Laufey left off. Plus, a live-action TV series is in development for Prime Video. While actor Ryan Hurst is no longer playing the lead role due to an on-set injury, former WWE star Dave Bautista has stepped in to take over the part. That's a lot of God of War goodness on the horizon.
