God of War Laufey hits PS5 on February 16. Here's everything you get in the Standard, Digital Deluxe, and preorder editions.

Ready to step into the afterlife as Faye? God of War Laufey is coming exclusively to PS5 on February 16, and preorders are open right now. If you're wondering which edition to grab, we've got the full rundown so you can decide without any guesswork.

First, the Standard Edition. It's available physically at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and GameStop, and digitally on the PS Store. Most retailers list it at $69.99, though Walmart has it for a dollar less at $69.00. No matter where you buy, you'll get the game itself plus the preorder bonus items (more on those below).

If you want some extra digital goodies, the Digital Deluxe Edition runs $79.99 on the PS Store. It includes the game plus a stack of in-game extras: the Dark Alchemy Armor Set, Dark Alchemy Blade, Dark Alchemy Bow Scales, Dark Alchemy Catalyst, an in-game resource pack, a digital mini artbook, and the official digital soundtrack. Already bought the standard edition and feeling the FOMO? You can grab all those extras separately with the Digital Deluxe Upgrade for just $10 on the PlayStation Store.

Now, the preorder bonuses. Reserve any version of God of War Laufey and you'll snag the Last Wish Armor Set, the Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance (a cosmetic), and an in-game resource pack. These are available regardless of which edition you choose, so it's worth locking in your copy early.

So what exactly is God of War Laufey? It's the next mainline entry in the series, but instead of Kratos, you play as Faye—the powerful warrior Kratos married and who died just before the events of God of War (2018). The game picks up right after her cremation, when she awakens in the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods. It's not exactly a peaceful retirement: she immediately finds a sword and battles plant creatures. Soon she learns that gods from various mythologies are vying for power, and she gets pulled into the conflict.

Faye is played by Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood, Daredevil: Born Again), and she's joined by a set of magical ribbons named Rue and a cosmic cube named Phranque. Combat is mostly sword-based and looks lighter and more fluid than previous God of War games. She can also use a bow and arrow, and since the Everywhen is the source of all magic, expect magic to play a big role in fights too.

The game is set during the events of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok (2022), so it should fill in some gaps for fans of the Norse saga. With a physical edition confirmed and preorders live, now's the time to decide which version you want.
