Ghost of Yotei DLC Review: Echoes of Sekigahara & Most Wanted

Sucker Punch's new DLC adds a personal questline and a run-based mode with Jin Sakai. We break down whether the $15 upgrade is worth it.
What if you could dive back into Ghost of Yotei for just $15 and get a whole new region, a personal questline, and a run-based mode starring Jin Sakai? That's exactly what Sucker Punch is offering with the Echoes of Sekigahara DLC and Most Wanted mode, both bundled in the new Complete Edition. If you already own the base game, it's a $15 upgrade on the PlayStation store. But is it worth your time? Let's break it down.
First, the basics: Echoes of Sekigahara unlocks after you've put roughly 10 hours into the main story and taken down a few of the Yotei Six. You'll need to initiate a bounty called "Nagato, the Handsome" to kick things off. Most Wanted, on the other hand, is available right from the main menu. They're two very different experiences, but both are worthwhile in their own right.
Echoes of Sekigahara takes you to a new region called Ashoro Foothills, where Atsu confronts an old flame named Nagato. The questline digs into their shared past as high-ranking comrades at the Battle of Sekigahara, complete with playable flashbacks. You're also tasked with cutting off resources to Lord Saito's army and taking down a faction called The Vipers. It's a tight seven-to-eight hours of new content that adds some welcome depth to Atsu's character.
Nagato isn't just a pretty face, either. He fights alongside you in most main missions, and you can even target a separate enemy with your bow while aiming. That makes for some satisfying double kills. The DLC also introduces Massive Weapons—disposable heavy hitters you can pick up from weapon racks or fallen enemies. They don't reinvent the combat, but swinging a giant club that even armored samurai can't block is undeniably fun.
The new region is filled with sidequests that, while familiar, tie into a larger theme of rebuilding a forgotten land. There's even a questline that explores The Snake's family business, adding a neat twist to Atsu's revenge. And of course, the vistas are stunning—Kurosawa-style cutscenes, popping colors, and sweeping landscapes that remind you why this series looks so good.
Most Wanted, meanwhile, offers grueling run-based combat challenges. The highlight? Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima is playable, with all his original mechanics intact. It's a treat for fans who missed him.
Overall, these additions don't break new ground, but they distill what makes Ghost of Yotei great: lethal ronin combat and beautiful backdrops. If you're hungry for more, this is an easy recommendation. Will you be picking up the Complete Edition? Let us know in the comments!
