Gears of War: E-Day Is Coming to Steam

Gears of War: E-Day launches on PC and Xbox Series X|S, and yes, it's coming to Steam. Here's everything you need to know about price, release date, and preorder bonuses.
Wondering if you can play Gears of War: E-Day on Steam? Good news: you absolutely can. The Coalition's upcoming entry in the Gears universe is exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X|S, but PC players can add it to their Steam library. So if you're a Steam loyalist, you're covered.
Let's talk price. The Standard and Premium Editions cost the same on Steam as they do on the official Xbox storefronts. Standard will run you $70, while the Premium Edition is $100. And if you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you're in luck—the game will be available on Game Pass day one.
As for when you can play, the Steam version unlocks at the same time as the Xbox versions. Premium Edition owners get early access starting October 1, while Standard Edition unlocks on October 6. If you're worried about your rig, you can check out our PC requirements guide to see if your machine can handle the visually impressive game.
Preordering on Steam comes with some nice bonuses: the Exfil Dom Character Skin and the Exfil Weapon Skin Set, both available in-game at launch. And if you go for the Premium Edition, you'll get the same digital goodies as the Xbox console and PC versions. That includes five days early access, two character skins and poses, the Death's Rendezvous legendary weapon skin set, the Emergence Omen weapon skin set, the Emergence Omen banner and emblem, the Bravo Squad signature weapon pack, 1,000 Iron premium in-game currency, and four seasonal customization packs.
What about Steam Deck? Microsoft says Gears of War: E-Day is "fully optimized" for various PC gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck and Xbox Ally X devices, but we haven't seen it in action yet. The Steam Deck uses three compatibility levels: Verified (runs without a hitch), Playable (requires some tweaking), and Unsupported (won't function). It's not yet known which category E-Day falls into, but Xbox Game Studios titles are usually playable on Steam Deck without much tinkering.
If you're looking to build a Gears collection on Steam, you can already get some of the games. Gears of War 2 and 3 remain console exclusives, and Gears of War 4 is still missing in action. Currently available on Steam: Gears of War: E-Day, Gears of War: Reloaded, Gears 5, and Gears Tactics.
