Food Devils Dodges Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake with New Release Date

Studio Daimon's Food Devils moves its release up to November 3rd after Nintendo surprise-dropped the Ocarina of Time remake on November 5th.
Ever had your big announcement completely overshadowed by a surprise Zelda drop? That's exactly what happened to Studio Daimon, the team behind Food Devils, a tactical RPG that mixes Fire Emblem and Hades with a heavy dose of culinary chaos. The indie developer originally planned to launch its game on November 5, but then Nintendo casually revealed that the Ocarina of Time remake would also launch on November 5. Ouch.
In a tweet on September 7, Studio Daimon announced the November 5 release date with plenty of enthusiasm. "See that pesky monster over there? That's your dinner! Plan your tactics in ever-changing biomes full of tricky maps, and scavenge as many ingredients as you can," the studio wrote. The game puts you in the role of the last living chef in a post-apocalyptic world, where you lure world-weary adventurers with dishes made from monsters. It's basically Delicious in Dungeon meets Fire Emblem, and if you've seen that anime, you know exactly how wild that sounds.
But just one day later, Nintendo surprise-revealed that the Ocarina of Time remake would also launch on November 5. That's a brutal head-to-head matchup for any indie game, let alone one that's literally cooking monsters. So what did Studio Daimon do? They took the hint and moved their release date up.
"WHOOPSIE we were just kidding, the game isn't releasing on Nov. 5th anymore, and definitely not because Zelda shadowdropped its release date right after we announced ours," the studio tweeted with a laugh-cry emoji. "You'll get your dose of 'indie spicy Fire Emblem' even sooner now, when FOOD DEVILS releases on Nov. 3rd!" The new date means you'll be playing Food Devils just two days before the Zelda remake drops, giving you a nice little appetizer before the main course.
Honestly, this is a win-win for everyone. We still get the Ocarina of Time remake, and we get Food Devils a couple of days early. Plus, the whole snafu brought more attention to Food Devils, which is exactly the kind of weird, fun-sounding indie project that deserves a spotlight. And yes, the developer itself calls it "indie spicy Fire Emblem," so we can all use that description without shame.
If you're into tactical combat, cooking, and a post-apocalyptic world where monsters are ingredients, Food Devils is definitely one to watch. It's coming to PC via Steam, and you can wishlist it now. The game's mix of strategy and culinary creativity sounds like a fresh take on the genre, and the early release date just makes the wait a little shorter.
So, will you be picking up Food Devils on November 3rd? Or are you saving all your hype for the Ocarina of Time remake? Let us know in the comments!
