Fable Reboot Hands-On: First Impressions from Xbox FanFest
We played 15 minutes of the Fable reboot at Xbox FanFest in London. Here's what we think so far about the combat-focused demo.
Ever wondered what it feels like to finally get your hands on the Fable reboot? We just did at Xbox FanFest in London, and it was worth the wait.
This year has been stacked for Xbox first-party games. Forza Horizon 6, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and Gears of War: E-Day all knocked it out of the park. But the one I was most hyped for? Playground Games' reboot of Fable. So when they announced at FanFest that Fable was playable, I couldn't believe it.
We booked a slot immediately—smart move, because it was clearly the most popular title at the show. After waiting in line, we sat down for about 15 minutes with a combat-focused section of the game. No story spoilers, just pure hands-on time with the fighting mechanics.
The demo gave us a taste of what to expect from Fable's combat. We can't share detailed impressions yet (full article on purexbox.com), but the fact that it was playable at all is huge. Playground Games is known for Forza, so seeing them tackle a beloved RPG series is a big deal.
Xbox fans have been waiting years for a new Fable. The last mainline game was Fable III back in 2010, so this reboot has a lot of expectations riding on it. Based on the crowd at FanFest, the hype is real.
We'll have more detailed thoughts soon, but for now, the takeaway is simple: Fable is real, it's playable, and it's already drawing crowds. If you're a fan of the original series, you have plenty of reasons to be excited.
What do you think? Are you ready to return to Albion? Let us know in the comments.
