Exodus Launch Date Revealed: Former BioWare Devs' Sci-Fi RPG Arrives April 7

Archetype Entertainment's Exodus, a sci-fi RPG from ex-BioWare devs, launches April 7, 2025, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. New trailer introduces Salt, a talking octopus companion.

Ever wondered what a talking octopus in a mech suit would be like in a sci-fi RPG? Well, wonder no more. Exodus, the upcoming third-person sci-fi RPG from Archetype Entertainment—a studio founded by former BioWare devs—just got a release date, and it's sooner than you think.

During Gamescom Opening Night Live, the team unveiled a new cinematic gameplay trailer that not only showcased some slick combat but also introduced a rather unique companion: Salt, a skilled mercenary who happens to be an Awakened octopus piloting an oversized mech suit. Yes, you read that right. Salt is your long-range sniper buddy, and she's got more tentacles than you can shake a stick at.

In the trailer, we see Jun Aslan, the player character, team up with Salt and Emrys, a member of the mysterious Deva species, to take on a group of enemies. Emrys can drain power from foes and turn it into shields for the party, while Salt deploys inky smokescreens to reposition herself. It's a pretty slick display of teamwork, but the real enemy here isn't the soldiers they're fighting—it's time itself.

Exodus is all about time dilation, à la Interstellar. When Salt spends a few years in space, 87 years pass back home. That means every decision you make will have ripple effects for generations. It's a heavy concept, but it's what sets Exodus apart from your run-of-the-mill space adventures.

The game is set to launch on April 7, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you're already sold, you can wishlist it now on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, or Epic Games Store. Archetype has even set up wishlist milestones, and the game has already blown past its first goal of 500,000 wishlists. That unlocked a Celestial Star Map Decoration for your in-game apartment, some concept art, and a music track called "Elegy for a Forgotten World." Future milestones promise cosmetic skins, a Salt-focused story cinematic, and more OST tracks.
