eFootball Kick-Off Drops Huge Update Before EA FC 27

Konami's Switch 2 rival eFootball Kick-Off just got a major update the day before EA Sports FC 27 launches, adding a Leagues mode with 25 tournaments and 13 new legends.

Did you catch that timing? Konami just dropped a major new update for eFootball Kick-Off on Switch 2 — and it landed the day before EA Sports FC 27 hits shelves.

Talk about making a statement. If you're a Switch 2 owner trying to decide where your football gaming time goes, Konami clearly wants your attention right now.

So what's actually in this update? The headline addition is a Leagues mode, and it's not a small one — it packs in 25 league tournaments for you to work through. That's a hefty chunk of content if you like the idea of grinding your way through different competitions rather than just hopping into one-off matches.

On top of that, there are 13 new legends joining the roster. Konami hasn't named them in what we've seen so far, but legends are usually the kind of pull that gets football fans nostalgic — the players you grew up watching, now available to slot into your squad.

For context, this all arrives as EA Sports FC 27 prepares to launch. The two games are direct competitors on Switch 2, so the timing here is hard to read as anything other than deliberate. Konami is essentially saying: before you spend your money elsewhere, here's a fresh reason to stay with eFootball Kick-Off.

Whether that strategy works is another question. EA's football series has long been the dominant force in the space, and a single update — even a substantial one — isn't going to flip that overnight. But for existing eFootball Kick-Off players, this is a genuinely meaty drop. A 25-tournament Leagues mode gives you a proper long-term goal, and 13 new legends adds fresh squad-building options.

If you're on the fence about which football game to commit to on Switch 2, this update probably just made your decision a little harder. Will you be jumping into the new Leagues mode, or are you saving your time for EA Sports FC 27? Let us know in the comments.
