Diablo Animated Series Is Coming to Netflix, Blizzard Confirms

Did you ever think you'd see the day when Diablo would make the jump from your screen to Netflix? Well, it's happening. During the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony, Blizzard president Johanna Faries dropped a hell of a surprise: the studio is partnering with Netflix on an animated Diablo series.

Faries made the announcement while emphasizing that the company is called Blizzard Entertainment—not just Blizzard Games—signaling that it doesn't intend to limit itself to interactive experiences. That's a pretty clear hint that more non-game projects are on the horizon.

And she didn't stop at Diablo. Overwatch and Warcraft were also specifically mentioned after the Diablo reveal, though Faries didn't confirm whether anything is official or concrete for those franchises at this stage. So while it's exciting to imagine an Overwatch cartoon or a Warcraft anime, we should probably temper our expectations for now.

Of course, Blizzard is no stranger to adapting its games into other mediums. The Warcraft movie hit theaters about a decade ago, but it didn't exactly light the world on fire—critically or commercially. An animated series or two might actually be a better fit for Blizzard's rich lore and larger-than-life characters.

There's no timeline yet for when we might see the Diablo animated series, but it was just one of several big announcements Blizzard made during its opening ceremony. The company clearly has big plans beyond just games, and this is a major step in that direction.

For Diablo fans, this is huge. The franchise has a dark, gothic atmosphere that could translate beautifully into animation. Imagine the Burning Hells brought to life with a proper budget and creative freedom—it could be something special. And with Netflix's track record on animated series, there's reason to be optimistic.
