CDPR Drops Windows 10 Support for The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt RED has stopped testing The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 on Windows 10, and the 2027 Witcher 3 DLC won't run on the old OS.
If you're still gaming on Windows 10, CD Projekt RED just delivered some news you won't love. The studio has officially stopped testing both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 on the aging operating system, which means neither game gets official support or compatibility guarantees on it going forward.
To be clear, this doesn't mean the games suddenly stopped working on your Windows 10 rig. What it means is that CDPR is no longer checking whether new updates break anything on the old OS. If something goes wrong down the line, that's on you, not them. The studio has moved its baseline to 64-bit Windows 11, and the PC requirements for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's refreshed release, which landed on September 29, got noticeably beefier. An SSD, DirectX 12, and at least 12GB of RAM are now part of the deal.
Here's where it gets real for Witcher fans. CDPR says players who can't run the updated version of The Witcher 3 won't be able to play the DLC planned for 2027, titled "Songs of the Past." That expansion puts Geralt back in the lead role and brings new regions, new monsters, new combat options, and a flail weapon to swing around.
Right now, the refreshed Witcher 3 still runs on Windows 10, but the writing is on the wall. Windows 11 is the officially supported target, and a single future update could be enough to kill the game on the older system for good. That's the tricky part: nothing is broken today, but you have no guarantee it'll stay that way tomorrow.
So if you're holding out on Windows 10 and you want to keep up with Geralt's latest adventures, you've got a decision to make. Upgrade the OS, or risk getting locked out of the 2027 DLC entirely. It's not a fun choice, but it's the one CDPR has put on the table.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available on PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. Are you planning to make the jump to Windows 11, or are you sticking with Windows 10 until it actually breaks? Let us know in the comments.
