Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Reveals Stacked Voice Cast

Have you been eagerly waiting for a fresh, gothic vampire-slaying adventure after what feels like an eternity? Konami's upcoming sidescroller, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, is shaping up to be an absolute treat for long-time fans. Developed by Evil Empire—the talented studio behind The Rogue Prince of Persia and known for their work on Dead Cells—this new 2D action-exploration title is officially bringing the classic Castlevania formula back into the limelight. But the gameplay isn't the only thing worth getting hyped about, as Konami just revealed a powerhouse voice cast that feels like a massive anime reunion.

Leading the lineup of villainy is none other than Graham McTavish, stepping back into the cape as the franchise's ultimate big bad, Dracula. If that name rings a bell, you probably remember his standout, nuanced performance across the first two seasons of Netflix’s Castlevania animated series, where he expertly balanced the roles of monster, husband, and father. McTavish brings a mountain of gaming experience to the mic, having lent his voice to massive titles like Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Dragon Age: Origins, Killzone, Doctor Doom in Marvel's Midnight Suns, and Arius von Enhrenberg in the second season of Devil May Cry.

He is far from the only familiar voice stepping into the dark corridors of Dracula's castle. The cast is packed with alumni that make this project feel like a celebration of the series. Alejandra Reynoso is making her return as Sypha Belnades, straight from the Netflix animated adaptation. Meanwhile, seasoned voice actor Liam O'Brien is stepping back into the role of Isaac, a character he famously voiced in Castlevania: Curse of Darkness.

On the Belmont front, JB Blanc brings nearly 40 years of industry experience to the iconic role of Trevor Belmont. Fans with sharp ears might remember Blanc previously voicing Brauner in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, alongside several roles in the Lords of Shadow games. Joining him is Abby Trott as Rose Belmont; she has been active since 2013 across anime and gaming, and currently voices Momo Ayase in the smash-hit anime Dandadan.

The rest of the vocal roster is just as stacked with talent. You can look forward to hearing Aaron LaPlante as Death, Ray Chase as The Fallen, Erica Lindbeck as Joan of Arc, Melique Berger as Medusa, and Dawn M. Bennett as Carmilla. Launching on October 15 for PC and consoles, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse arrives perfectly timed to help celebrate 40 years of the legendary whip-wielding series.

Evil Empire has made sure that while some Dead Cells DNA is present, it is the classic 2D exploration formula that drives the action. As noted in GameSpot's preview by Phil Hornshaw, the game "makes use of good ideas from recent entries in the genre, while adding a bunch of its own."
