AMD Reportedly Raising Radeon GPU Prices, RX 9070 Hit Hardest

AMD has reportedly told Chinese retailers it's hiking global MSRPs on several Radeon cards, with the RX 9070 seeing the biggest jump of about $104.

If you've been eyeing a new Radeon GPU, you might want to sit down for this one. Word on the street is that AMD has told its retail partners in China that a price hike is coming for multiple Radeon graphics cards — and it's not exactly small change.

According to a report from VideoCardz, AMD has notified domestic partners about plans to raise the global suggested retail price on several Radeon models. The RX 9070 is taking the biggest hit, with a jump equivalent to roughly $104. Meanwhile, the RX 9070 XT is reportedly staying right where it is — at least for now.

This round of adjustments is described as a quarter-over-quarter change. Once the new pricing kicks in for the Chinese market, the gap between the RX 9070 and the RX 9070 XT will shrink to just 700 yuan. That's a pretty tight margin, and it could make the XT look like the smarter buy if you're weighing the two against each other.

It's not just the 9070 getting more expensive. The RX 9060 XT is also caught up in the changes: the 16GB version is going up by 600 yuan, while the 8GB model rises by 300 yuan. Even older cards aren't immune — the RX 7650 GRE is included in the adjustment. The RX 6500 XT, however, is holding steady.

For context, here are the original US launch MSRPs AMD set for these cards: the RX 9070 XT at $599, the RX 9070 at $549, the RX 9060 XT 8GB at $299, and the 16GB version at $349. Those were the numbers at launch, and they're worth keeping in mind as this rumored hike looms.

As of right now, AMD hasn't officially confirmed any of this. The company hasn't publicly announced this global price adjustment, so treat it as a rumor until we hear otherwise. That said, VideoCardz has a solid track record with this kind of thing, so it's probably worth paying attention.

If you're in the market for a Radeon card, the clock might be ticking on current prices. We'll keep an eye out for official word from AMD. In the meantime, are you planning to grab a GPU before prices go up, or are you holding out for next-gen? Let us know in the comments.
