007 First Light's Free Extended Operations Update Adds Racing, Photo Mode, and More

IO Interactive's free Extended Operations update for 007 First Light is out now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing the Valhalla Protocol race, photo mode, Jungle Heist mission, new weapons, outfits, New Game+, and a punishing 00 diff
What if you could take Bond's Aston Martin Valhalla for a spin โ and blow up the competition while you're at it? That's exactly what 007 First Light's new free update, Extended Operations, lets you do, and it's available right now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The headline addition is the Valhalla Protocol. This race against the clock takes Bond to Slovakia, where you'll tear through four different versions of the track. When pure speed isn't enough, you can lean on the car's guns and missile launchers to secure first place. It's a very Bond twist on racing โ way more fun than a standard Formula One event.
If you'd rather slow things down and capture the chaos, the new photo mode has you covered. You can pose Bond, apply unique filters, tweak custom lighting, use exclusive poses, and snap the perfect shot. Whether you're recreating a Great Gatsby meme or just showing off your best action moment, the tools are there.
There's also a brand-new mission called Jungle Heist. Bond infiltrates a jungle villa, figures out who's hiding the codes to a secret safe, retrieves the contents, and then fights his way to the extraction point. Expect plenty of guns and flames along the way.
Your arsenal gets two new toys: the Squire Marksman rifle and the Storm 12 shotgun. And for fashion, Q Division has you covered with three new outfits โ the casual Leisure Beam, the posh First Class tuxedo, and the Observant Spy ensemble for blending in.
Once you've beaten the campaign, New Game+ lets you replay the entire story with any outfits you unlocked the first time. And if you think you've truly earned your 00 number, the new 00 difficulty mode is here to humble you. Resources are scarce, enemies hit hard, and even the smallest mistake can be fatal. It's billed as the ultimate challenge.
IO Interactive has been steadily supporting 007 First Light since its May launch. Amazon Game Studios boss Jeff Gattis recently hinted that a sequel is a matter of when, not if. The game hit 4 million units sold in August 2026 across PC and consoles โ though the Switch 2 version is still missing in action. That edition has been delayed multiple times and is now expected in March 2027. In GameSpot's review, Mark Delaney praised IO's debut as supremely confident, especially as Hollywood figures out Bond's next move.
So, will you be diving back into 007 First Light for the Valhalla Protocol, or are you jumping straight into the 00 difficulty? Let us know in the comments!
